The waves, hungry
grow, crash with desperation
drag sand from shore
to cold, dark blues
my feet unable to deny the forceful pull
of ravenous waters,
reel me in.
Hidden in the tide
Your face sizzles into view
But I’m quickly jolted from our brief reunion
by unknown sources of ripples and roars.
A wave towers high, takes its first bite
I’m suctioned to the sea floor.
The taste of panic shortly replaced
by the taste of salt on my lips
like the last time we kissed
in our favorite ocean.
our memories float through my head
like the water that envelops me,
your soul
trapped in the waves that swallowed you whole
our souls finally intertwine
it feels so real, you are here with me.
I open my eyes to the gentle touch
of a summer breeze and light splashes against my feet.
Safe and sound in the arms of the water
Safe and sound in the arms of you.
